Next Monday 6th July is a public holiday in honour of Jan Hus the Bohemian religious reformer who was burnt at the stake in 1415. This recognition of a Protestant figure is a counter balance to the Cyril & Methodius holiday the previous day. In Catholic Slovakia only the first of these days is a public holiday.

Jan Hus

They have a nice festival every year in Tabor dedicated to Jan Hus and his followers, I think it's sometime in September.
